The Everything

You are the everything,
inscribed in my ring.
A song he once gave me
my young heart to sing.

I was his everything
his moon and his stars
his life in my hands
his home became ours.

But being his everything
wasn’t enough.
I drowned, suffocating
expected to stuff

My feelings, my everything
down deep inside.
I did what was expected
of me, of his bride.

So being his everything
wasn’t for me,
I know, now alone,
on this winding journey.

The Shallow End of the Gene Pool

This poem is so stereotypical Los Angeles :). Not my LA, which is all about spiritual growth (and that is a big community here), but the LA of shallow pleasures, you know?

Meanwhile, Melody Muses...

He just can’ t get past

the shallow end of the gene pool –

his thoughts are skipping stones,

bouncing off a surface as smooth as glass.

Any conclusions which need to be drawn

are best left to the artists;

he is too occupied

in swallowing his own press

to go off the deep end.

Daily Prompt – Happily Ever After

Daily Prompt

Blended

There’s no happily ever after
for me. Not yet, at least.
There’s too much longing and
separation and love
poured into a drowning man
and needs falling
by the wayside as
I live life alone.
But there’s so much
growing and building and
becoming a force
they have to reckon with
and igniting sparks of
desire and inspiration and
laughing with the universe
at the twists and turns
of life, even
the painful ones.
So blended pleasure, then,
as the goddess pours
one cup into the other
red wine sloshing
onto her green velvet gown,
her unseen husband
enfolding her in
his hands.
