Paradise Delayed

Paradise delayed

Because you had to see if

One drink would matter.
It did. And now you’re

Lost again, cut off from me

And our family
And our love. Alone

A pale shadow of yourself.

Lesson learned yet?

She is

She is light embodied

A sly slyph twisting the world

To her whim, her whimsy showing

In her twinkling laugh, when

Delighted,

She connects with another creature

Be it animal or family or friend and

Links her will to their need.

She is effortless

and she changes the world.

Anxiety

Anxiety strips bare your soul

Shoving you naked into the snow

Shivering and gibbering,

A cowering animal, playing dead

And hoping that the Fear sniffing your

Quivering curled up shape

Decides you’re not worth eating

And spares your weakened, weary heart

To beat for one more cursed hour.

Kind Words

Thank you

for your words, whether

Kind or not

Matters not

What matters is

You wrote.

Took me months to look

At the abandoned page

Empty for years so

I didn’t think to see

But you wrote, as ever,

Exactly what I needed to hear

From my teacher, my spiritual guide

Through the journey

The long turning of this decade.

Thank you

For your kind words, you

Once said to me.

And now to you. Thank you.

Action

We call it an “action”

I call it an outlet

A lifesaver, an avenue for pouring out

My energy, my outrage, my conviction

that you must listen to us,

must hear our concerns or

face the dire consequences.

We don’t behead our leaders anymore

The bloodthirsty mob will be satiated

With just your figurative head on a platter

But it will feel the same to you,

Headless and unloved

after twenty odd years.

I don’t blame you

You’ve deserted me at last

empty bars on the counter screen

empty echoes of broken ley lines

that used to flow, vibrant and thrumming.

I can’t feel them anymore.

I can barely remember

why I ever cared.

So I don’t blame you for

moving on, leaving no trace

of who you once were,

my devoted one. I’m

just so boring now, and there’s

nothing more to see

here.
