Childhood, Family, Greek mythology, Home, Love

We run
through the forest
together, thick leaves
in our faces
mossy ground underneath
our running feet, as we
notch our bows and
bring down our prey
perfectly coordinated
heartbeats away from
merging into one, but
he could die and I could not
and so we parted, my
hunter hung in the sky
in glittering silver.
Traveling around the earth
and sky for thousands
of years, until
a young girl
looks at the sky
with her father,
who says to her,
I knew Orion was your favorite,
because he’s mine, too.
