Prayer

I was on my knees
at my bedside
sobbing, aching lonely
not my usual
form of prayer.
Usually, I stand
and converse,
discuss, hear the voice
come back
and calmly explain
why there is good
in the pain
surrounding me
assuring me
of my place
in the plan.
But what the voice
says now
is too unbelievable
to sanely believe.
Be patient
is hard to hear
when all I see
is him slipping
farther away.
