Golden

The dove with wings
of gold and pinions
of silver
held together by our
beliefs and good deeds,
no, more, by our
relationships and
peace in our homes
and caring for ourselves
and others
because God loves us all
and wants us to do right
to be happy.
We were the dove
that night
the end of our homecoming
and atonement for our sins
we were flying
wrapped in ivory cloth
covered with golden
cream pure white
embroidery scrolling
the names of our mothers
sewn in the corners
with knots and tassels
hanging, holding us together.
Me and my two
beside me, all wrapped
as one
golden and flying
home at last.
